I consider myself of the alternative, rock and metal community, also gaming/nerd and cosplay (sometimes)
I feel like i kind of fit into them - i changed from the Goth and Emo scene as i found it too pressurized and that i wasnt perfectly skinny, preened and perfect like every other gothic girl i was hanging out with and seeing on instagram was. I find myself alot more comfortable in the metalhead/rock community as everyone is so lovely, also my boyfriend is also part of it so he helps. In addition, it makes me feel like i am part of something as i was bullied alot during secondary school and college to the point that i had no friends at all, i was extremely depressed and suicidal so finding these communities made me feel like i really belonged and that i wasn't alone. I also love the dark aesthetic and music so it fit me perfectly.
I express myself through dyed copper hair, eyeliner, facial piercings and ear piercings (i have 15 in total) and tattoos physically, i also wear black clothing, platform boots (doc martens in particular) and fishnets all the time - the only colour i wear is red and burnt orange. In addition, i wear band shirts and anime shirts and have an anime bag collection.
Do you believe our communities help to make up our identities? I do believe communities make up our identities as it helps build our confidence and stops us from feeling alone in a world of chas and shit currently.
