I‘m part of the pole community, I feel like I fit in with this community because I have met lots of amazing people through it and some of my closest friends I met through pole. I was drawn to pole at a society’s fair at my university, I don’t know what I expected to learn or do but I couldn’t imagine life without it now. I express my passion for pole in my every day life, I don’t hide it, sometimes I wear clothes with silhouettes of pole dancers on or post pictures or videos on my social media especially when I’m really proud of something I’ve done. I think communities help make up our identities because you can go to a class or an event and know that everyone around you loves the same thing you do and it makes you feel confident and happy being surrounded by people who are enjoying the same things you are and sharing tips to improve and seeing lots of inspiration. It makes you confident in who you are as a person being around like minded people. A couple of my favourite quotes are ‚their opinions aren’t your problem‘ because it’s something I need to start to remember, and ,Herr, wirf Hirn vom Himmel. Oder Steine, Hauptsache er trifft.’ because I study German it seems only fitting to enjoy the idioms and sayings that go with it, alongside the music from one of my favourite bands, Rammstein, with one of my favourite lyrics ‚ohne dich, kann ich nicht sein‘.
