I am part of the pole, music, art, food, health care communities.
I base my answer pre-COVID. The reason I do pole is partly because of my asthma and to push that boundary because my asthma is difficult sometimes. I can't even hoover without taking breaks! The pole community is so important because it accepts me and it's a form of therapy too. Being healthy is super important for me, it's not all about my image either although that's a good side-effect.
I'm a very creative person, it's the only way I can navigate this world at the moment, and sometimes I wish it was simpler but hey.
I feel like I hide pole at work because people go away from me a lot because I just say I am who I am, part of me thinks it's easier to do that instead of prolonging someone who doesn't want to see who i am. There is nothing wrong with pole. People can learn a lot from it and should try it. I'm trying to hide less.
Which leads me into music. Music, especially one band encourages mental health and talk to their fans. COVID has actually enabled this on Instagram especially and I'm grateful for it. I think it's important for bands to do Q&As on their Instagram (this goes for anyone too).
I express my passion for food in every day life. I'm learning by watching my housemates cook. I set myself little goals but I tell them that I'm doing it so I actually do it. I have many separate Instagram accounts for many things. I love my vegan account.
If you like something first, then you find the community around that, yes communities do help make up our identities.
I love music so my favourite is and
"I'm screaming down your walls
Can you hear me at all?
Can you hear me at all?
'Cause I'm crying out your pain
I'm trying hard to get through
I'll be there when you fall
If you need me at all
I'll be there to fix you"
and
"So I hit my head up against the wall
Over and over and over and over again, and again
'Cause I don't wanna be like them"
